Our institute co-organized with our partner university Escuela de Ciencias Aplicadas e Ingeniería de Universidad EAFIT the 2nd GIMLA conference on the topuc of "Insights for Sustainable Impact." The one-day event provided the opportunity to discover how data can be a sustainable ally for the development of different sectors, interact with experts, connect with a global audience from all industries, and update your career.

The panel "Ciudades y comunidades sustenibles" (SDG 11) presented several ongoing initiatives in Medellín. We are thankful to the contributions of Laura Gallego, vice president of Proantioquia, Carlos Cadena-Gaitán, from the Universidad EAFIT, Alejandro Alvaréz Venegas, from the Low Carbon City Foundation and Juan Pablo Ospina Zapata, from EAFIT and member of RiSE.

For the panel "Energía asequible y no contaminante", experts will bring to the table the importance of joining forces to achieve sustainable development by promoting clean energy technologies. We'll have for this relevant discussion Alejandro Rendón, CEO of OPEX S.A.S, Alex Ossa, from Universidad EAFIT and Juan Carlos Gómez, from Empresas Públicas de Medellín - EPM.

One of the highlights of the event is the panel “Agua limpia y saneamiento” (Sustainable Development Goal 6). In this panel, four high caliber experts will discuss sustainable solutions to manage the water quality in Colombia: João Costa, from International Hydropower Association (IHA), Adriana Aristizábal, from Universidad EAFIT and Luz Fernanda Jimenez, from Universidad de Antioquia.
