We support and develop several educational activities of the University of St.Gallen in and about Latin America.

Latam Term

The HSG Latam Term is a semester of exchange in Brazil for our Bachelor students. It presents an unparalleled international opportunity for Bachelor’s students seeking to immerse themselves in Latin American culture and deepen their understanding of its economic and political landscapes. Held during the spring semester, this program welcomes undergraduates keen on exploring the rich tapestry of Latin America's cultures while delving into the intricacies of emerging markets.

Latam Compact

The Latam Compact courses are block seminars for bachelor's (spring) and master's (fall) students at the University of St. Gallen. The block seminars offer the opportunity to gain practical experience in Latin American contexts. They take place during the semester break. Students from all faculties are encouraged to apply and, by special arrangement, especially those on exchange in the region.

Curriculum Offer at the University of St.Gallen

Latin American Affairs are embedded in several curriculum courses to stimulate students' interest in the region. The institute's director, Dr Vanessa Boanada, is an assistant professor for development studies at the School of Economics and Political Science. Furthermore, lecturers affiliated with our Institute organize Contextual Studies courses regularly.

Writing your thesis with us

Master’s and Bachelor’s students at HSG can research and write theses on topic related to Latin America, benefiting from ongoing research and institutional partnerships that bridge academia and practice in Switzerland and Latin America.

One modality of the thesis develops scientific skills through collaboration with researchers, while the other tackles real-world challenges, with findings shared to influence development practices.
