Current Developments

The School of Computer Science (SCS-HSG) was founded as the sixth school at the University of St. Gallen on 1 August 2020. From September 2021 on, it will educate the first HSG students in the M.Sc. programme in computer science. In the autumn semester of 2022, a Bachelor's programme in Computer Science will be offered in addition to the Master's. Currently nine professors teach and conduct research at the SCS-HSG in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Foundation of Computation, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction- and Communication-based Systems, and Software Systems Programming and Development. The establishment of the School of Computer Science at the HSG as well as the two new study programs are being promoted as a project of the Canton of St.Gallen's IT education offensive and are currently growing continuously.

Study Computer Science in St.Gallen

Helping to shape future technologies and acquiring solid economic knowledge: This is what the new Master's Program in Computer Science (MCS-HSG) at the University of St.Gallen will offer from fall 2021 on. By sticking with the motto "Where Computer Science meets Entrepreneurship", the HSG combines a technical computer science programme with contemporary basic subjects and the opportunity to set priorities with the teaching of skills in new business models, digital innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. The education offers a comprehensive basis for a professional career as a computer science entrepreneur or as a manager in technology companies. This course of study concludes with a Master of Science degree at the University of St.Gallen for the first time. The Master degree can be taken with either a focus on Data Science or Software and Systems Engineering.
